Hello 2022: Maui residential real estate stayed remarkably strong in the 1st quarter. In April, we still saw super low inventory and record setting sales prices. I believe May will be the start of a market slow down. The indicators are subtle but unmistakable. New challenges are emerging with world instability, supply chain issues, climate change issues and skyrocketing energy costs and upon us at the same time. We can’t escape some fall out but the question really is “how far will we fall”? Frustrated buyers who saw their dream of homeowners ship evaporate in the last year and a half should keep an eye on the market for prices to come down.
